The Cub’s Father Pretends to Be Poor Everyday

Chapter 6

Xie Yishu remembered the life experience of the little fat cub and didn’t know how to respond for a while.

He looked at the face full of hope, like a chubby cub waiting for praise, and then looked at the sketch on the table, encouraging: “Bo Zai painted so beautifully! The background is blue? It is painted so beautifully, it looks like the sky…”

Xie Yishu struggled to find something to praise against the child’s drawings which had a rather abstract style.

001 whispered to him: “Host, he seems to be crying.”

Xie Yishu paused and turned to look at Bo Zai, only to find that Bo Zai’s expression dimmed little by little.

He eventually lowered down his little head.

Xie Yishu was a little at a loss, wondering if he made a mistake: “Bo Zai?”

The cub lowered his chubby face without saying a word.

He was a little sad, so sad that his tummy deflated, and it’s stuck out little by little.

Teacher Xie did not realize that he was painting him.

Is it because Teacher Xie is not his mother?

Little cub frowned at the sketches on the table, and his sad little expression vanished when he saw the photos on Xie Yishu’s work card.

(小胖墩 literally means little fat chunk, I don’t know what to replace with, so let’s use little cub)

He glanced at the drawing in disbelief, then looked at the work card photos, and knock his own head slowly.

He understands now.

He painted too little.

He drew the picture only from one angle.

“Teacher Xie, Bo Zai hasn’t finished painting yet.”

Little cub awkwardly folded the drawing in half and then folded it into a small square, carefully put it away, and said to Xie Yishu, “Bao Zai will draw another one.”

He will draw a little more from different angles. Teacher Xie might be able to understands it.

Cub clenched his fists.

Although he didn’t know what he has said wrong just now, but it is a good thing that the little boy cheer up again.

Xie Yishu felt relieved and reached out to rub the cub’s head: “Okay, teacher will get you new drawing paper.”

The teachers and students of the Little Mushroom Class discovered that their little friend Bo Zai suddenly became addicted to painting.

He continues on drawing even during a break between classes.

While queuing up for physical examination, he squatted and draws.

He was crying even after weighing because of the numbers on the scale. He just squatted passively for a few moments before snapping to the corner, picking up the drawing paper and crayons, and crying as he painted.

At lunchtime, Ge Qing said to Xie Yishu: “For the first time, I saw the child so devoted to one thing.”

Xie Yishu eats the last rice in the plate, wipes his mouth with a napkin, and looked at the little cub that is eagerly drawing at the side, his heart felt soft:”He is painting his mother.”

At first it looked like a wall with two windows.

After showing him several new paintings, he already had a nose and eyes, and he could tell that he was painting a portrait.

Ge Qing did not expect that the little cub will paint his mother. Thinking of the blank information on the mother’s files in the office, he felt a little emotional.

He is very pitiful.

He changed the subject: “Teacher Xie, today I will take care for this class during lunch break. Later, Teacher Wang from the Little Cauliflower Class from upstairs will take you to the staff dormitory. You can go to the dormitory to tidy up and unpacking.

He could hear the little electronic sound of 001 frustration in his head.

Xie Yishu knew that 001 was disappointed that he could not tell to the children about the story of Gulanxing. While comforting him by saying that there will be another time, he thanked Teacher Ge: “Okay. I have to trouble you, teacher Ge.”

(来日方长 it mean there will be another time)

As the only young teacher in Yunshan Kindergarten who can’t afford a house and live in a staff dormitory, Wang Ziqiao is very happy to have new colleagues to accompany him. So after putting the “little cauliflowers” to sleep with the help of other nursery teacher, Wang Ziqiao excitedly came to take the new colleague.

While walking downstairs, he saw his new colleague at first glance.

At the second glance, he saw the little cub being led by his new colleague.

“Hello, I’m Xie Yishu, the new nursery teacher of the Little Mushroom class.” The new colleague introduced himself.

Wang Ziqiao stepped forward to shake hands with him and said enthusiastically: “Hello, my name is Wang Ziqiao, from the Little Cauliflower class upstairs. We will be roommates in the future, so let’s take care of each other.”

After that, he lowered his head and glanced at Little cub: “Isn’t this the kid from your little mushroom class? Why is he here?”

It’s a long story.

Xie Yishu explained briefly: “He is unable to sleep. Teacher Ge wants to keep an eye on the other kids, so I brought him along.”

Bo Zai obediently said: “Hello, Teacher Wang.”

“Hello, hello.” Wang Ziqiao patted his little head and looked at Xie Yishu again, “Teacher Xie, I will take you to the dormitory first. The empty rooms have been unoccupied for a long time so it has a lot of dust. You maybe have to clean it first this afternoon, or you won’t be able to stay the night.”

Bo Zai cocked his little ears.

Xie Yishu nodded in understanding: “Okay.”

Bo Zai scrunched his chubby face.

It has been a long time since this place is unoccupied; it looks so dusty so it really needs to be clean.

Bo Zai did not want Teacher Xie to live there after hearing this description. Although he does not know if Teacher Xie is his mother, he does not want Teacher Xie to suffer.

The staff dormitory is near the playground.

The four-story building is goose-yellow in color, with the lower three floors serving as various activity rooms and the top floor serving as the staff dormitory.

“This one is mine.” Then, Wang Ziqiao pointed to the one next to the stairs, and to the few on the side of the finger. “These three are empty. You can choose from these three. The two rooms opposite was used by the principal to put miscellaneous item. If you want to live in there, you have to move the contents out first.”

“Yes.” Xie Yishu didn’t know which to choose, so he chose the room next to Wang Ziqiao. “Then, I take this one.”

“Okay.” Wang Ziqiao took out the card and swiped it, and handed the card to Xie Yishu while opening the door. “You keep the key, then bind it to the terminal later, and usually just use the terminal to go inside.”

“Okay.” Xie Yishu takes the key, led the little cub in, and followed Wang Ziqiao into the room.

Two big people and one little kid inside already make the room almost full.

Bo Zai looked at the employee room which is not even half a size of his toy room and his mental collapsed.

How can he live in such a place!

Without thinking, Bo Zai lifted his chubby hand and directly grabbed Xie Yishu’s by the corner of his cloth.

He doesn’t want to let Teacher Xie live here, he wants to take Teacher Xie home!

Before he could invite him, he heard Teacher Wang’s voice: “How is it? It’s not bad, right.”

There is also a satisfied voice from Teacher Xie: “Much better than I thought… this is probably the best dormitory I have ever lived in.”

Xie Yishu looked at the dormitory in front of him.

Although the dormitory is small, it is fully functional.

There is a bed, a table, a temperature control, a wardrobe, and a small bathroom.

It is much better than a crowded six-person room and a moldy basement.

But it has been a long time since no one has lived in here.

There was a layer of dust on the furniture, the curtains showed a slit, and the sunlight came in, and the dust could be seen floating in the air.

Brother Wang Ziqiao patted him softly and said: “This is the best dormitory I have ever lived in.”

Bo Zai perked his ears as he listened to them, and then slowly let go of his hand.

If Teacher Xie is his mother… it turns out that mother likes such a place, no wonder he refuses to return to the house where he and his father live.

The little fat boy’s heart sank.

The two adults were talking about the cleaning, and not realizing that something is wrong with the little cub.

“Would you like to use my vacuum and cleaning tools? I’ll get it for you.” Wang Ziqiao said as he returned to his room, and later brought a bucket of cleaning tools. “The rag is new, you use it first.”

Xie Yishu took the bucket and thanked: “Thank you, Teacher Wang.”

“No need to thank me. By the way, Teacher Xie, where did you live before? Is there more things to move in? I am free today, I will help you move the luggage after we get off work.”

“I was… not from the main star.” Xie Yishu moved his gaze to the door, and did not say that the backpack at the door contained all of his luggage. “It is not convenient to send things. I plan to go out to buy some at night.”

“Then, I will go out with you in the evening to familiarize you with the surrounding environment. I happen to have something else to do too.”

Wang Ziqiao was worried to leave the little children in the class for too long. Seeing that Xie Yishu does not require his assistance here, he made an appointment for them to leave together after they closed the kindergarten and left.

Xie Yishu looked at the cleaning tools in the bucket, first opened the window to ventilate, and then turned on the vacuum to remove the dust.

With the vacuum, the cleaning work is basically almost done.

The final step is to wipe down all of the furniture before turning on the disinfection device to disinfect all corners.

Xie Yishu wet the rag first and ready to wipe the chair so that the little cub can sit on it.

When he lowered his head, he saw Bo Zai had rolled up his sleeves, revealing his fleshy chubby arms: “Teacher! Bo Zai will help you!”

“Okay.” Xie Yishu didn’t hesitate much, “Thank you Bo Zai.”

He gave the little fat boy a rag and asked him to wipe the furniture by himself.

Although little cub is a bit clumsy, he wipes it very hard. He was short so he could not wipe the furniture that is situated on a high place, thus he can only wipe the chair and the table leg or anywhere that he could get his hands on.

With his help, the dormitory was quickly cleaned.

The rest is to clean the inside of the vacuum and return it directly to Wang Ziqiao at night.

Xie Yishu asked the cub to sit on a small chair and wait for him, and went to the bathroom with a vacuum.

When he came out he saw the little cub was drawing on the desk.

Three people were drawn on this painting.

Xie Yishu guessed that the pup was painting himself and his parents.

Xie Yishu remembered what Teacher Ge told him.

He lives with his father.

Dad is a car mechanic who owes money outside and often takes him to move and he always change kindergartens.

Xie Yishu couldn’t help but imagining the life of a single father and his son:

The father worked hard all day, and most of the money he earned was used to pay off his debts, and the rest was spent on the child. Let children dress clean and tidy, and go to kindergarten decently.

The child knows his father’s hard work, is young and sensible, helps his father to do housework together, and strives to reduce his father’s burden. He miss his mother every day…

Bo Zai noticed Xie Yishu’s gaze, and subconsciously straightened his waist.

This time, he drew three mothers.

The drawing draws the backside of his mother, the mother when he is sitting and also the mother’s side profile.

He drew three at once, so Teacher Xie might notice it.

Bo Zai took a deep breath nervously, and heard Xie Yishu ask him: “Bo Zai, did you paint your family?”

Puppy came home with more than 20 drawings.

He later drew another ten or so, but Mr. Xie didn’t see that he was painting him.

Is Teacher Xie really not his mother?

Obviously so!

The chubby was puzzled, holding his paintings and lying on the sofa for a long time.

Hearing the sound of door opening, Bo Zai sat up from the sofa, hold the painting, and rushed to Gu Yanzhi’s arms with his short leg: “Dad! Look at Bo Zai’s painting!”

Gu Yanzhi took the painting in one hand and holds his son in the other hand.

Bo Zai put his arms around his neck and wanted his father to help him analyze whether Teacher Xie was his mother. Before the analysis, he couldn’t help but asking: “Daddy, guess who Bo Zai is painting?”

Gu Yanzhi looked at the painting and pondered for a while.

He can only see that his son’s painting an individual person.

As for whom that individual is… Gu Yanzhi asked confidently, “Are you painting me?” in conjunction with the thinking of the little fat boy.

The author has something to say:

Little painter:? ? ?
